The challenging aim of the IDAS project was an automatic telephone directory assistance service to the public over the telephone network. The built demonstration system is based on state-of-the-art speech technology, i.e. large-vocabulary speech recognition, mixed-language text-to-speech synthesis, and intelligent dialogue management (cf. [LS00]).
